Scarlet Clematis Texensis 'Etoile Rose'
Low stock
Product Information
Clematis texensis Etoile Rose has smaller nodding blooms that flowers in abundance from july/aug to october time. It has hundreds of flowers on for this long late season. This is one of those clematis that is in deliberation amongst the heads of the 'clematis world' as to whether its a texensis or a viticella The Main attributes, such as the fact that it has 'Urn shaped' or 'Trumpet / flute shaped' flowers and the fact that they nod, along with the re-curved tepals are all common traits of the 'Texensis' species/group. But the fact that one of the parents is from the viticella group and the other is from the texensis group and that some of the buds do nod, would indicate that it is more part of the 'viticella' group. So we are unsure but by pure looks and habit alone we feel it needs to stay in our texensis group

Variety Specific Tips & Tricks
Beginners Care Guide
Where to Plant
Clematis like rich, organic, and cool soil. Plant in a location where the roots are shaded and the plant has something to climb. If your location gets too much sun, cover your clematis roots with mulch or partner plants to help shade the roots.
Watering
Clematis love water but they don't like being flooded. Water your clematis once the soil is dry and during heat waves. But do not over-water as it will lead to fungal disease. Assure good drainage and add partner plants to help absorb excess water. If you get strong heat waves, add mulch to prevent water from evaporating.
Pruning
Pruning technique is key to maximize the number of flowers on your clematis and keep it blooming throughout summer.
Your Prune Group:
Fertilizing
Fertilizing is the secret ingredient to thousands of blooms. Clematis need regular fertilizer to keep them going. You can opt for liquid fertilizer which will need to be applied once a month during the growth season or slow release solid fertilizer, that will feed your plant through the seasons.
